Exclamation READ 1st POST • Next Chat • Thursday • September 9 • 7:30-9:30PM Eastern

• The format we use is one in which everyone takes turns having the 'floor'.

• This avoids cross conversations that make it confusing.

• The order is the order in which people arrive to chat.

• So that everyone has time for the floor, 'Doors' will close 15 minutes before the end of chat.

We don't provide transcripts to chat because we like to make it a safe place for people to share. Since there are some sensitive things that people talk about in chat that they did not want to post publicly on the forum, we like to say 'what happens in chat, stays in chat'. Thank you.

Why do doors close early? I tried going into chat at 6:22 pm PST and it said chat would be good until 6:30 pm PST. Did chat end early? Just since the chat ends at 6:30 pm PST I know more people that enter can not take the floor but just to say hi the room should stay open.

Why does the chat have to stop right at the scheduled time? Can there be leeway or a live chat room that is always open? Maybe a meeting place with scheduled times like now and another room for anyone anytime to chat....

Just a thought its nice to have a scheduled meeting but not so nice to have it end early and not be able to have any other time....

Hi sharkzfanz, it says in the posts about chat that the 'doors' to chat are closed 10 minutes before the end of chat so everyone who is already there gets a chance and so it ends pretty much on time.

We tried having chat open all the time before, but there were some things that went on that were illegal – people trying to buy and sell medications.

So, it works best with scheduled chats. The board is available 24/7, so people can post if they'd like.

Hi Mike, they're not available so as to keep things said in chat, kept in chat. There have been many times when people wanted to share just in the group and not publicly on the board, so we'd like to honor that anonymity/confidentiality.

Hi Tommy, don't worry about that - typing speed and typos don't matter at all in chat. So don't let that fear stop you!

Hi Danelle, and anyone else interested. We got the iPad/iPhone app to work. You have to download it from:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/parac...373391424?mt=8

You'll need to know that:
Server: 2
Site: 8008
Room: Lobby

Then you'll log in with your screenname and password that you use here on the forum.
It may say room password, but there isn't one, so just ignore that.

Here's some more in-depth info from Danelle who has successfully used the iPad in chat. Thanks Danelle!!

There's a 2x button on there that will make the screen bigger than the size of an iPhone screen.

Hopefully that works! We'll be in chat at 7:30 eastern time. Maybe we'll 'see' you there!
