Default just starting a new life

Hello I'm new here and idk if I'm on the right thread or not but I need some advice. Im starting my 24 hour detox. And I see a dr Monday to start me on subs. I'm scared to death of the wd but I'm so ready to be off these pills I've been on them 15 plus years and took about 10 pills a day. I know it doesn't seem like much but I've been taking them a long time. I've been reading what other people have gone through (the same as me) I just would love to get some advice and expectancies that people are gonna go through or have gone through. I haven't even started going through wd yet. I know its gonna be bad til I get on the subs. But mentally I'm so ready to be done with these pills running my life. But I'm scared to death. Thanks alot for listening.

Hi Recovery93070, welcome. Congratulations on making that big decision to change your life. Has the doctor told you anything about how you will start? Will it be in his/her office or will you be sent home with a prescription?

I do have a question, did you ever try to taper off of the 10 pills a day? Are you addicted or physically dependent? This link will explain the difference:

A proper induction would be one where you start out at 1 or 2mg - only when you are in mild to moderate withdrawals. This pdf is helpful:

Then wait an hour or so to see how where you're at cravings and withdrawal wise. Take another 2mg if needed, wait another hour or so etc. The dose you stop at that day is what you would take the for about a week as it takes about that time to stabilizes. Then you can re-evaluate and see if you need to increase or decrease, depending on how you feel.

This is another good link to read that covers alot of information.

Good luck tomorrow. Let us know of any questions before or after that.

I would suggest starting at the lowest mg possible to get you by. Of course make sure that you aren't still sick but the lower you start the less you have to taper off of if you do decide to get off.
