Default Soon to be off subs... scared s***less :/

Hi Everyone,

I've been here before and I wish I would have been here more to build up some type of support system.

I'll just start by saying that I'm on my last week of suboxone and I am scared. as. shit. It's not even funny. I didn't really want to get off it but the whole money thing and my doctor pressuring me slowly turned me towards nexting subs.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm just scared right now because I've become so accustomed to subs. Before subs I had pills and yada yada... but after pills I had this pill that was prescribed by a doctor specializing in addiction which was meant for me to get clean. It's such a safety net for me. I didnt really get high off it, but for the longest time I've been at this point where I have this mentality: "No matter what happens today, or what is supposed to happen today, it will all be just fine. Because around noon I get to take my suboxone... and if I feel things are a little difficult earlier in the day? Then I will take my suboxone earlier"

Ugh, I know this is typical addict mentality. I just don't know what to do. I'm so nervous about this. All I'm asking for is some honest help right now because everything else I can handle... but this? This I'm not so sure about.

(Even if you think your experience wont help, please just offer it up. It's amazing what people can learn from the smallest things. I know I am that way so no story is insignificant to me)

Hi Mxchik, how much Suboxone are you taking now and how much do you have left?

Do you have any type of support system you can lean on during this time - we'll be here for you of course.

Try to keep as busy as possible. Exercise, eat right, take vitamins. Please try not to stress over it - tell yourself you can and will do this.

If you really don't think you're ready, have you thought about looking to see if there's a clinical trial near you - those are free medical care and medication.

Keep posting. Let us know how you are.

Mxchick,
Have you started a taper at all? What dose are you on now, and how long have you been on sub? How long where you addicted to opiates before starting sub? This will be helpful for response to your post.

Hope to hear back soon

You will be ok..
A positive attitude is the biggest thing you can use to help yourself. Stay busy..and maybe keep a journal..that helps some with feelings and such..Definitely let us know what dose you are on, and how many of what mg pills you have left..some ppl have NO trouble dosing every other day, or every 36 hrs due to the half life..it can be managed..and you can do it!

Mxchik,
I think you need to find another doctor and get back on sub until you don't need it anymore. Looking forward to taking it isn't a good sign, you should be at a point where you are forgetting to take it every so often before you taper. JMHO

Mxchik - Sub-Zero has an excellent idea. If coming off isn't YOUR idea, it's not a good idea.
Please check in and let us know how you are doing.

I'm doing the same. On 1mg. have enough left to last through April. Then I'm out... it's my idea, but skipping a day doesn't even work for me SCARY! My problem is that my family and my $$ resources is not allowing me to continue. I would if I could find a doc that take gov. health care (medical, CMSP) but in Sacramento region, it's all $500 cash situations. Yeah right, what is a poor person to do? go to a methadone clinic after years of subox??

I feel for you MxChix, it is scary. Wish you could rapid detox in a coma right? there's a clinic in Orange County that offers that 4 people coming off subox. They say that when you wake up, all the drugs are out of system so there is no detox, just wake up cleaned out. Their price: $28,000 for 3 days.

Hi, just wanted to post this thread on rapid detox. Not only is it expensive, it can be deadly, and it has a huge failure rate. There's a lot of info in here:

I agree, it probably doesn't work anyway. Putting anyone under is risky, obviously.
