Default Lapse vs. Relapse

My 19 year old daughter is a heroin addict. She was in an outpatient program, then inpatient for 28 days, got out two weeks ago, started using 3 days ago, OD'd and I took her back to the rehab center. My insurance is saying it is not covered because it was so close to her 28 day stay. They are saying it is a lapse, and not a relapse...has anyone heard of this?! She would have died here Wednesday if the EMT's didn't revive her....Advice?

Hi love4lindz, I'm hoping someone else might chime in who has some knowledge/experience with insurance.

I wonder if you got statements from the EMTs/doctors/counselors saying that she needs continued treatment because she overdosed if that would help? Maybe keep going up the line of people in the insurance company - ask for a supervisor instead of the customer service person who answers the phone?

Just some thoughts - not sure if it will help, but I guess it's worth a try, especially because she was revived by the EMTs.

Anyone else know of anything that might help?
